Other than a Friday, or Saturday, National Margarita Day could fall on any better day of the weekend than Monday. I don’t know about you, but after a long Monday struggle, I could go for a Margarita, or two. In order to celebrate this festive holiday to its full potential, I wanted to share my favorite Margarita recipe!
Now, I have to start of by saying that I’m pretty picky when it comes to my Margarita. Most other drinks, I will pretty much drink anyway [I’ve never met a glass of wine I didn’t like]. But, when it comes to my Margarita, heavily sweetened minutes and pre-mixed unknown concoctions from a machine just won’t cut it! If you feel the same way, and the thought of freshly squeezed lime juice, tequila and a salted rim makes your mouth water, then you are in for savory treat! This recipe is easy, fresh, and sure to make your taste buds tingle with joy! Print out the Simply Fresh Margarita Recipe and shake it up so we can celebrate tonight! - 6 limes (7 if they are smaller in size)
- 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon Cointreau
- 1 cup Tequila
- 1 cup triple sec
- kosher salt
- Halve 1 lime and then halve one half of it. Slice the other half of the lime for garnish (see pictures). Using the quartered limes, squeeze each quarter around the rim of your glass. Add salt to a plate and place the glass rim down into the salt. Coat the rim with salt. Fill glasses with ice.
- Fill a large cocktail shaker, or small pitcher, with ice. Squeeze the juice of the limes and lemon into the shaker and add in tequila, Triple Sec, and Cointreau. Shake and strain over ice.
- If you would like to make this recipe into a frozen Margarita, add all ingredients to a bender with 2 cups of ice and puree. Pour over ice.
Happy Margarita Monday!
