If you have been following along on my Youtube channel, snapchat, or if you are subscribed to my email list, you would know that I have been obsessed with Ouai Haircare for the past few months. Ouai is a line created by Jen Atkin, better known as the celebrity hair stylist that is behind the Kardashian’s beautiful locks! I’m not going to lie, when I purchased the products for the first time, it was really just because I was obsessed with the packaging and loved that Jen Atkin created this line, because let’s be real, she does the Kardashian’s hair! I mean, why would I not purchase something from her line?! It only took one use for me to realize that Ouai is much different than the many alternatives on the market. All praise goes to Jen Atkin, because once you try this line, you won’t ever want to use anything other than Ouai!
You probably already know that I really don’t share hair products all that often. I have very fine, oily hair, that doesn’t like to hold curl at all. It usually lays pretty flat and it’s just not fun to deal with, or talk about! However, the Ouai line has been a been a complete game changer for me. My entire hair care routine has changed and has now been replaced with nothing but Ouai products. Not to mention I want to add even more products to my collection soon! Exhibit A and B.
First off, let’s talk about Ouai. This simply chic packaged product, establishes a whole new meaning haircare. I love the identity behind this brand and the fact that the product speaks for itself. “Ouai means yes, in that casual, Parisian way.” Can you #goals? Between the brand and the way Ouai makes my hair feel, and look, I have this image in my head of the modern, chic Parisian woman, who is making things happen in her own life.
Volume Shampoo & Conditioner
The first purchase I made from the Ouai line, was the Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner. I had just ran out of shampoo, so while I was at Sephora I decided to give it a go. After purchasing these two, I not only loved their packaging but the fragrance? Heavenly. It wasn’t long before I needed to add more Ouai products to my haircare routine.
Medium Hair Spray
I have always been a strong hold hair spray, kinda gal, but the Ouai Medium Hair Spray has changed that. I feel like the Ouai Medium Hair Spray is even better than strong hold hair sprays I have tried in the past! I don’t have to use a ton of product, it doesn’t make my hair crunchy and it has a lasting hold on my hair like no other product! Combine this with the Wave Spray and you have one heck of a combination!
Texturizing Hair Spray
You might be thinking, Why do I need an additional hair spray? I’m here to tell you that the Texturizing Hair Spray is actually life changing for girls with no volume. This product is basically a dry shampoo and hair spray in the same bottle, which is pretty much the best combination for us girls who need a little umph, to help us out. I even use the Texturizing Hair Spray on clean hair to give it some initial volume and help my blow out to last a couple of extra days.
My top here
Lastly, but certainly not the least, is the Ouai Wave Spray. Falling victim to beach sprays, salt sprays and wave sprays, promising to turn my hair into something of a beach goddess was my specialty, many years ago! I purchased #allthethings promising those results, only to find myself looking like a cat that had been bathed and smothered in hair gel. You probably get the picture but if not, let’s just say it’s a look no one should aim for! Many years later, I was still on the fence about trying this Ouai Wave Spray, but decided to give it a go after seeing one of my favorite bloggers, Marianna Hewitt, rave about it. You guys, if you love having beach waves or looser curls, you need this product! It holds your curls in place, without being crunchy, or sticky, and a little goes a long way. It’s so hard for me to let go of hair spray, because I use it like it’s going out of style, but with this Wave Spray all you need is a few sprays and you are good to go, without hair spray! It’s just that good.
While I feel that my hair routine these days isn’t complete without all of these products, I realize that didn’t go out and buy them overnight. If you are looking to try the Ouai line, I would recommend starting with a product or two and go from there. If you are like me and need shampoo & conditioner, start with that! If not, I would highly recommend starting with the Texturizing Spray and the Wave Spray, if you are looking to get the perfect tousled waves. Those two products are by far my favorite and I feel that they are a great representation of just how great the line is.
Tips for Getting the Perfect Waves
A while back, I shared a post on how I curl my hair so if you haven’t seen that be sure to check it out here. I used different hair products then, which I have completely switched out with the Ouai line since, but it gives you the detailed process I follow when curling my hair. To get a quick summary, here are my key tips to achieving a tousled beach wave:
- Start with the Ouai Texturizing Spray and spray your roots good to start off with some volume and texture
- Wrap your hair around a 1 inch barrel (use a 1.25 or 1.5 if you hair is longer)
- Leave about 1 inch, or so, straight at the bottom
- Run your fingers through your hair to break up the curls
- Tease your crown area and any spots that need a little extra volume
- Finish with the Ouai Medium Hold Hairspray and the Ouai Wave Spray.
I like to hold up a section of my hair and drop it slowly, while spritzing a little of the Wave Spray. This helps to create more volume and allows me to make sure I get a little wave spray on each piece of hair.
Like I mentioned before, I usually don’t talk share too much on Timeless Taste about hair care simply because my hair rarely response well to various hair products. However, after trying the Ouai line I really wanted to share my thoughts with you because it truly did make a difference in my hair! I hope that you enjoyed this post and that you give the line a try. If you already use the Ouai line, I would love to know what products are your favorites, let me know in a comment!
