July 6, 2018
Getting a hold on the time that is flying by is an ongoing challenge, that I am accepting with gratitude. It’s time to share my June favorites and easily enough it doesn’t feel like it should already be July! After experiencing a few years fly by so quickly, I’m coming to the realization that it’s necessary for me to reteach myself how to have fun again. I am beginning to recognize my inability to simply just relax and let go. Even if I’m not getting anything accomplished, by scrolling Instagram and “planning out a content strategy” that is not down time and I need to let it go.
With that said, June felt like the start of summer. I finally am beginning to feel like I’m getting a new handle on this blogging this and finding the freedom to explore new avenues on my own terms and for the right reasons. It’s quite refreshing and my heart is grateful for these learning experiences. My first round of BBG came to an end this morning and I’m actually surprised that I did it. Like, I really did it. I completed the 12-week program. Although I didn’t actually do the cardio, I am still so proud that I actually stuck with it!
Here is a little glimpse into my past month, through my June Favorites!
I’m not quite sure what took me so long to try out retinol, but I’m so glad that I did. I guess I always assumed retinol was only for aging skin. Which it does help, however, I have found it tremendously helpful for my acne-prone skin. Lately, I have been obsessing over Shani Darden’s practice and her products. She is the go-to gal for many celebrities and if her other recommended products are as great as this one, I might have to overhaul my skincare routine!
Jay’s Birthday Party
Jay’s Birthday is on June 16th and this year we had a Havana Themed Party to celebrate his special day! We had so much fun and I wrote an entire post on the party, that you can see here so I will keep it short! It is such an honor to be Jay’s wife. He is kind, selfless, loving, compassionate and generous to so many people. I truly think that everyone who knows him loves him. It’s hard not to.
Cami NYC Tank
I purchased this cami from Net-a-Porter at the end of May and it has quickly become a favorite in my wardrobe. I love that you can dress this up or down and it’s so simple yet stylish. It’s easy to feel underdressed when wearing a tank top, but fortunately, this beautiful cami solves that problem! These come in a variety of styles and colors, as well. See this in action here.
After reading this book, from Brené Brown, I decided to pick up Daring Greatly next. As expected, despite my own doubts, she killed it in this book too. I am the newest and biggest fan of Brené Brown. Her ability to make her science so related and understandable, while also being reliable is incredible. Her vulnerability and ability to share how we can become vulnerable as well (plus why it’s a good thing, not a bad thing) is inspiring. I will continue to read her books until there aren’t any left… and then I will probably reread them again!
Daring Greatly is perfect for anyone who often feels like they have a vulnerability hangover (🤚 yep, that’s me). Like you have said too much or revealed your cards. Or you’re fearful of what others are thinking of you and your inability to control your actions to the insecurities. Honestly, I would recommend this book to anyone. Becuase we are all people who deal with shame regularly.
One of my biggest June Favorites is family cookouts! Nothing makes Jay and I happier than spending time with our family. We had some really great cookouts throughout the month of June and the beginning of July. I look forward to spending more warm summer evenings with our family.
Rodan + Fields Lash Boost
In the past, I haven’t been much on lash serums or any “extras” such as this in my skincare routine. Yes, I do have a pretty extensive routine and spend my money on masks and things, more so then most people, but I’m just not into “gimmicky” products. Which, up until now, I always thought lash serums were. I purchased this lash serum from a friend, who sells Rodan + Fields, and within just a few weeks I could see a drastic difference. This product has grown my lashes so much and I don’t know if I can ever go without it again!
During the month of June, I have been working hard to get on track and get a system going with my blog and Youtube channel. I started testing out Trello as a way to keep things straight and organized for myself and for my friend, who has been helping me. I honestly never thought that this would be quite as helpful as it has been for me. If you are looking for a great way to get organized, I would highly recommend Trello! And, if you use Trello I would love to know your tips and any helpful resources! Here are some of my favorites:
Our garden is starting to produce flowers and vegetables and I really enjoy going out to the garden each day (at least 4 times a day). Each morning, Worm and I (and Jay if he’s home) stroll out to the garden to check on everything and see what has popped up from the night before! I will cut flowers and pull any vegetables that are ready and bring them inside. Gardening has become something that I love dearly and is very therapeutic for me! I wrote an entire post on this many years ago, you can see that here.
I hope that you enjoyed hearing about our June and some of my favorites! I’m looking forward to July as we are heading out on vacation exactly one week from today! It will be so nice. I just can’t wait! I would love for you to share some of your June Favorites with me, in a comment below!
