Let’s be honest. Everyone is curious about wearing white after labor day. I recently had this discussion with a few girlfriends, did some research, thought about it, and I’m here today to share with you my thoughts on wearing white after Labor Day. First off, I’m no Emily Post (or Miss Manners for that fact!) But I am a firm believer in doing what you love, properly, without offending others. Wearing white after labor doesn’t do any of those things, and I love it dearly, so here are my thoughts on wearing white after labor day.
Wear White After Labor Day!
It is still warm in Virginia, so it’s too hard to put away my favorite white, and cream, jeans just yet. Instead of holding off, until later in the season to wear winter white, I say just keep on wearing it! If you’re still concerned, I understand. So today, I wanted to share with you a few ways to wear white after Labor Day, without feeling insecure.
Go for White Jeans as Your Focal White Piece
Obviously, I have made it clear that the white jeans are what I can’t live without! However, in contrary to wearing a white blazer, or another summery white piece, white jeans are easy to style for fall. I find styling white jeans easier, especially when they are paired with some of the items below. It’s also nice to opt for a cream color, rather than bright white. I love my cream, frayed MOTHER skinny jeans, I picked up from Club Monaco in the Spring! I have gotten so much wear out of them and they will definitely be my go to pair of transitional white jeans for Fall. You can see more of my love for white jeans here and here!
Pair Them With: a denim shirt or jacket, sweater, vest, or your favorite fall jacket
One of my favorite outfits for fall is distressed white jeans and a denim jacket or button down shirt. It’s so easy and is a great base outfit to accessorize with scarves, a fun lip color or my riding boots! Fall is such a beautiful season, but its weather can sometimes be unpredictable. like 85 degrees and sunny in the morning, when you leave home, and 69 and pouring in the the afternoon. So dressing for various temperatures is always a good idea! I also love pairing my white jeans with a fun vest, or my favorite olive green jacket, I picked up from Loft a couple of years ago. Pairing your white jeans with a nice Fall colored top, will help remove that summery vibe from the white color. Be sure to visit this post where I share My Favorite Classic Fall Fashion Colors!
Wear With Boots or Booties
Boots and booties are my favorite shoes for Fall. When Fall comes around, I put on my riding boots and don’t take them off until March (or April!) They are comfortable, classic, stylish and oh-so appropriate for Fall weather. They are also great for toning doing white, in the cooler months. Frye Boots are my absolute favorite, however I have been dying for a pair of chunky, grey suede booties, like these! I just need to take the jump and get them! Unfortunately, fashion expenditures are not even close to being on my budget anytime soon (thank you wedding and home building #adultingisnotfun!) But, when I can splurge again, I promise you these booties will be one of my first purchases, oh, and these grey suede Manolo’s!
Cozy up with a Scarf
Scarves are another one of my favorite Fall/Winter accessories and the perfect addition to your white jeans for Fall! There is something about a scarf in the cooler months that just feels like home, or like I’m naked without one on. I have always wanted a huge plaid blanket scarf. It must be the blogger in me, but I just feel so left out! Infinity scarves are one of my favorites, however I am starting to branch out a little more and just go for any type of scarf. Adding a Fall plaid scarf, to a denim shirt, with white pants is the perfect way to style white after Labor Day. Add some booties and you can’t go wrong! I love Burberry scarves and this is the perfect, affordable dupe!
Wearing white after labor day can sometimes feel uncomfortable (especially in the few days following the holiday!) But there is not reason why you should partake in not wearing the color. I hope that you found these tips helpful, and you will step a little outside your comfort zone this fall, and give wearing white after labor day a try!
