[See our Engagement Story here!]

I’m pretty sure that planning an engagement party is a small preview of what the wedding will be like. Needless to say, I’m a little bit scared.

After my mom mentioned that she wanted to have Jay and I an engagement party, I couldn’t wait to start planning it. I immediately took to Pinterest and started pinning and exploring different party styles and options. Although I am not completely the bridezilla type [or at least I pray I’m not], I definitely want to be included in all of the decision making and planning.

I knew that I wanted it to be at our house, outdoors, with a beautiful garden theme and gold accents. I have dreamed about gold sequin table linens for just about forever. They were definitely not easy to find and nor were they cheap, but after many hours of searching, we were able to find them for a reasonable price! I knew what different decor pieces I wanted, but finding unique things in my area of VA can sometimes be a hassle. Between trying to find things and the short amount of time we had to plan the party, there was sure to be some added stress! But, in the end, it was all completely worth it!

The weather really made for an unforgettable party. I’m so glad we ended up getting a tent because the whole day of the party was cloudy and rainy! About 30 minutes before the party started, we had everything set up- tables, linens, flowers and then boom the sky fell out. The wind was blowing, knocking things over and just causing a bit of chaos. Thankfully, the [heavy] rain stopped right before the party and we were able to get things up, very last minute, before the guests arrived!

I’m so thankful that Jay and I were able to celebrate our engagement with our family. We are so blessed to both have such wonderful families and thankful that they will soon become one! I can’t wait to marry my best friend and share the process here on Timeless Taste!
