This year I was so excited to start my Fall Decorating and outdoors with our porch! I wanted to share a few Fall Porch Decorating Ideas, as well as a peek at our porch this year! If you followed along with our Home Build, you would know that we didn’t move into our house last year until the week of Thanksgiving. So that made decorating for Fall a little challenging. Don’t worry, this year I will be making up for the by sharing tons of exciting Fall decor, recipes and more! Also, don’t forget to check on my two new Fall pages, my Fall Decor + Kitchen page as well as my Fall Beauty + Fashion page!

I always feel like there is a fine line between carefully designed space and straight up cluttered decor. I have seen pictures pop up on my Facebook feed of people decorating their homes and I thought to myself “If she fit’s one more pumpkin on that mantle, the whole thing is going to fall straight off the wall! 🙈”
For me I wanted our porch to look carefully curated, while not being too overbearing. I haven’t really ever been a fan of straw and up until this year, when I discovered white mums, I wasn’t really a fan of those either! Since moving into our house, last year, I have gravitated even more towards neutrals and a gray color palette. It makes me feel calm and comfortable, so the same thing went for our porch.
To keep things transitional for all of Fall, I wanted to make sure that the colors I selected would last throughout the next few months. Of course the mums will eventually die, when the weather gets cooler, but I really wanted everything to last well. I decided to go with white mums (of course, right?!) as well as a deep burgundy color! I also varied the sizes and colors to add a bit more texture and dimension, to the vignette.
While we were picking up the mums, I fell completely in love with these two Waxleaf privet’s! They are absolutely stunning and I had my eye on something similar at Lowe’s a few months ago, but just couldn’t bring myself to buying them. Thankfully these beauties entered into my life at just the right time this. I can’t wait to see them bloom next spring!
There is no doubt I love lanterns. I have them in my house, on my porches and just about everywhere in between! They are so beautiful on your front step, your fireplace mantle, hanging from trees and even as a part of a table setting. I am constantly looking for ways that I can incorporate more lanterns into my life.
Lanterns add the perfect touch to your Fall porch scene. They bring light, romance and a bit of structure. I love how ours pull everything together. I couldn’t mention lanterns without sharing these flameless candles with you. A month or so a go, my mom gifted us a set of flameless candles for our lanterns. I’m not kidding the least bit, when I say to you that our porch has never been better! Not only do you not have to light these and go blow them out later! These are set on a timer so you all you have to do is set them once and they come on everyday at the same time! Fall is all about rich color and what is more beautiful than a cool Fall evening, with these lanterns and candles that light themselves?! I can’t think of anything!
Gourds + Pumpkins
This year, instead of pumpkins I decided to opt for gourds instead! After scouring Pinterest for
hours days, I finally found a few Fall Porch Decorating Ideas and inspiration photos. I used those as inspiration to create our porch this year. In the past, I have fed finitely been a pumpkin gal, but for some reason this year I just wasn’t feeling it. I spend so much time on Pinterest and there are endless inspiration options for sure! We found the majority of our gourds at Trader Joe’s. They really had a great selection and I even got some of the smaller pieces, for inside, there too. I have seen a few gourds at Lowe’s as well. Be sure to stop in there to see what they have too!
