I know that I have taunted on Instagram, my old site and Twitter, about Jay and I’s engagement. As well as the complete whirlwind [and craziness] that this past month has contained! I am so excited to be able to FINALLY share with you our engagement pictures and our little love story!
As you know, Jay and I went on a family trip to Charleston [or should I say I thought it was a family trip, in reality it was our engagement trip!] and had such an incredible time. I must say, although I am not surprised because Jay is always going above and beyond, #hedidgood! Charleston is absolutely beautiful, but I’m sure you already know that! From the multicolored buildings, to the unique boutiques, our incredible stay at the Planters Inn and the never ending options of delicious food, Charleston may be the best place on earth [or at least in the U.S.]. I couldn’t have picked a better location myself [way to go Jay]!
I have gotten so many questions about if I had any idea that he was going to propose or what was going on. To be quite honest, at first I had a little suspicion. I mean it’s rare that me chipping a nail get’s that kind of reaction from Jay, lol. It’s not that he doesn’t care, but my nail polish just isn’t his first priority. However, he did seem very intrigued when I was like,” Ugh… I chipped a nail!” He was like, “What? Which one? Is it bad?” So let’s just say that did seem a little weird!
My mom and Jay told me that my dad wanted to take the bike tour, around the historic Battery area, before a nice dinner at our Hotel. I was excited, but a little bit concerned when I was told that I need to be dressed up for the bike ride in order to be ready for dinner that was at 9:00p.m. [I’m a hungry girl and that seemed late]. In addition, Charleston was really hot and I didn’t want to get my new beautiful dress [from here], and my favorite Stuart Weitzman sandals, messed up on this sweaty bike tour! You could say that sometimes I’m not always the most optimistic person #mrs.grumps.
Needless to say, White Point Garden/The Battery was so [drop dead] gorgeous that I forgot all about Jay acting weird and me having to sweat my tail off, in my pretty dress.
I would do it all again for that beautiful location and priceless memory!
The first two pictures shown were when I didn’t have a clue that I was about to get engaged to the love of my life and the proposal itself! After that, Chris [our photographer] came out from hiding and we had the most perfect engagement shoot! I was so overwhelmed with emotions and it seemed like time was flying yet standing still. I know, that doesn’t make sense but it was so wonderful and crazy at the same time. I got so nervous when I saw Chris’s lens reflecting light. I was like “Jay who is that guy standing behind a tree with a camera?” and when I turned to hear his response he was on one knee!!
I told you, he did good!
The lighting was so perfect and Chris was the absolute BEST to work with! More on that to come in later post, if you would like! Jay loved working with him and if you are in the Charleston area you must use him!!
It was so hard to pick only a few favorite pictures from our shoot to share with you, so you know I had to include many, however this is not all of them 😉 I think having the engagement shoot right after we got engaged, really captured our excitement! To be honest, it didn’t even feel like real life!
I hope that you enjoy these pictures as much as I do and maybe find some inspiration for your shoot!
Don’t worry, I have plenty of engagement and wedding post’s planned for the near future! But, iF you have any specific requests, please just let me know!
How am I ever going to pick one picture for our announcement?
Also, I need to pick one for our engagement party!!
