Growing up, 101 Dalmatians was one of my absolute favorite movies! I mean, anything with puppies was definitely a favorite. When coming up with costume ideas for Beau’s First Halloween, we decided it would be fun to dress the family up as Dalmatians, even Diesel had a costume.
I spent just about the entire week leading up to Halloween making our costumes. I wanted them to be made with love and be so fun and creative. Honestly, I’m not a very creative person but these days I am feeling more, and more, inspired to be creative everyday. It feels good!
I’m sure one day I will end up buying a Halloween costume, but growing up, we always made ours at home and my parents would help me find clothing and accessories to complete my costume. It was so much fun and looking back, I’m grateful that I didn’t have a costume that matched someone else’s. When you make your own costume, it is yours and there’s not another like it. I love that!
After cutting spots and hot gluing everything together, including some fingers (ouch), I finished our four costumes off on Friday night! We spent Saturday with our closest family and friends celebrating the fun holiday. I made Mummy Rice Krispie Treats, Elisabeth and Butter’s Halloween Bars, Chili, Hot Dogs and more snacks.
We walked to some of our neighbors houses and Trick-or-Treated. Even though Beau is still too little for treats, we were able to say “Hi!” to our neighbors and just enjoy the night. I hope that Trick-or-Treating in your own neighborhood becomes popular again. Personally, I just don’t think the parking lot ordeal is the same!
I spent so much time on these costumes that I probably should have blogged how I did it! But, if you are really curious, I will make an additional costume to show you but I think you are creative and can make yours just the way you like it! Either way, just let me know:)
Even though its a few days late, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I just love these pictures so much! Thank you so much for allowing me to share my life and sweet family with you!!
