2018 Goals + Resolutions

I am undoubtedly getting a little late start to 2018, due to a wicked cold that I can’t even pay to leave my system! Naturally, this has delayed my sharing of my 2018 goals, a bit. But, I’m happy to finally be sharing them!

So far, 2018 has consisted of lots of tissues, coughing, long naps, blurry thoughts and praising Jesus for this blanket. Seriously Y’all, I have tried everything to kick this sickness, except the correct solution-going to the doctor. By now I am finally starting to feel more human-like, however, I’m already playing catch up in the New Year!  I have decided that I am letting go of guilt in the New Year, or at least one of my 2018 goals is to stop allowing guilt to nag me and weigh me down.

2018 Goals + Resolutions

Thankfully, I feel like I’m not the only one who is attempting to let go of perfection and is taking a slow start to the New Year! So, Welcome 2018 I am so happy to see you!

As I previously mentioned, here, I have been working my way through Lara Casey’s Powersheets. Let me just take a minute to praise these sheets and Lara! I have never felt more grounded, relieve and inspired, in a new way, to start working towards my goals.

Last year, I shared my goals and resolutions for 2017 and I have decided to make this a yearly tradition! I hope that you enjoy getting to hear my goals and that you will share yours with me in the comments below. Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram, as I will be sharing my Powersheets and planner when it arrives! The Powersheets have taught me so much about goal setting and not limiting myself or beating myself up. So, these are my 2018 goals and resolutions. They are messy, not perfect and will possibly change throughout the year. There are also so many small goals and intentions behind each bigger goal.

I hope that by sharing these real, truthful goals with you, you will be inspired to share yours. When working through the Powersheets, I found that being truthful with my insecurities, fears, and doubts, helped me to feel more empowered in tackling them and getting rid of those ugly lies that Satan tells me! So… Here goes nothing!

2018 Goals + Resolutions

Take Action NOW!

My word for 2018 is ACTION. As well as I can remember, I don’t think I have ever had a word of the year and when I first starting working on this whole goal setting thing, I thought there would be no way on earth I could pick one word to have for the year. But after further investigation, soul searching, prayer and letting go of perfect (most important thing here), I found that word. ACTION. One of my goals for 2018 is to take action. In my personal life, my professional life and anywhere in between. I’m often a procrastinator and feel the need to wait for the right moment. Let me just tell you, there is no perfect or right moment. Nothing will ever be aligned just right. So just do it. Start now. Take ACTION!

Be Happy Right Now, Where I Am, With What I Have

This is quite hard to admit, beings that I have been so blessed and have no reason for doubt or grumpiness. However, I am a complainer. There, I said it! In the past, mostly 2016-2017 I have made excuses and complained to the point that even I am tired of hearing it. It’s time to make a change. It’s time to stop with the “Buts” and “What ifs” and “If only’s.” I am going to be happy during the good and bad moments and with everything that I have. I want to practice more gratitude.

Personal

Bless My Husband Everyday

I honestly doubt there is a better man out there than Jay. He is such a blessing to me each day. He encourages me, loves me, worships me and cares for me. My goal is to remind him daily just how wonderful he is. I want to be that wife that shows her husband, unconditional love. It’s easy to get caught up with stress, work, and daily life, and let the little things slip. I want to give hugs and kisses just because. Tell him how much I love him. Thank him for all that he does and so much more!

3 Date Nights, or Days, Per Month

Ideally, I would like to have 1 date night per week, but I will go for 3 date nights per month! Jay and I really need to take the time to have a weekly date night, that is free of cell phones and other distractions. Whether we are going out to dinner, seeing a movie, cooking at home or just having a lounge night on the sofa. Taking some undivided time together is important. I am already excited about these days and nights!

Give Nothing But Love to Everyone Everyday

Since we are admitting everything, here, I have to admit that I can often be very impatient and in a hurry. Most days, I rush through without realizing how I am treating those around me. My goal for 2018 is to slow down and take the time to give everyone love. I want to stop begin so impatient, short-tempered and disconnected. I want to give everything I have to my husband, my family, and my friends. Including lots of love, kindness, and support!

Goal Weight 120 lbs.

Whoah, I can’t believe that I am admitting this online, to the world. But, I think it’s time we just get really honest about ourselves, our lives and what we want. And also stop being ashamed or embarrassed of who we truly are. I don’t think by any means that I am too far over my goal weight, however, at 5’3my weight fluctuates around 129-130lbs daily and I would like to see that at 120lbs. or lower. Usually, I would say that a number isn’t important unless, I feel good, which is really what it’s all about. However, I feel like when I don’t put a number on it, I really don’t have a specific goal to reach.

So, this year I decided to put the number of 120lbs, or less. Which is scary. Don’t get me wrong, I only have around 10 lbs. to lose, however, I haven’t seen that number since High School and I was very active then!

Instead of creating some scary regimen, that eliminates everything, the rules for me to get to 120lbs. are simple.

  • Move a little bit each day. Do weight’s when possible.
  • Eat fewer carbs. I have a seriously scary carb addiction.
  • Limit Sodas. Only on weekends. Or one per week.
  • Pay attention to what you are putting into your body. ** this one is huge for me! I really don’t care what I eat. I will eat anything- pizza, cookies, brownies, cheese fries, anything!
  • Eat more greens and vegetables.

I truly think that just by moving a little more, I’m pretty sedentary, and cleaning up my diet a little bit, it should be pretty easy to lose this weight throughout the year. I’m truly just trying to not overdo it and love myself. I want to better myself simply by being aware.

Create a Home

I have to admit a huge struggle I have battled with in the past several years, which is making my home into a showcase for my blog. I have put so much pressure on myself to make our home #blogworthy that I forgot we live here! Instead of being harsh on me, I hope that you will hear me out and see where I am coming from. When we built our house, Jay and I had never lived on our own. It’s so easy to see other bloggers homes, and homes in magazines, and feel that yours needs to meet some kind of standard or fit in for people to relate to you.

I had this “ah-ha” moment a few weeks ago. I was walking through our house and thinking about everything I wanted to do, in the future, and while looking around I noticed that there were only a couple of pictures of Jay and I. There weren’t many distinguishing characteristics of us in our home. It was messy, so clearly it was lived in, however, it just felt cold. Maybe it’s because we have many empty rooms, maybe it’s because the walls are bare. Truthfully, I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what the problem was. It just feels like it needs a lot of work.

With that said, one of my goals for 2018 is to make our house into a home. Put pictures of us on the walls, not an uncomfortable amount, but you get the point. Add some color, life, and imperfection to our home. Stop being so tough on myself and waiting for the perfect piece of furniture, or fearing that I will make a mistake, and just make a home.

2018 Goals + Resolutions

Earn a Consistent Income From My Business

2017 was such an amazing year for Timeless Taste and my Youtube Channel and I just know that 2018 is going to be even better. One of my goals for this year is to get my bookkeeping straight and try to earn a consistent income from my business. Now I’m not setting any crazy amount just yet. I would just like to be able to say that there is at least a certain figure that I will earn each month from my business. That way I have a goal to work towards and I actually feel like this is a business and it is consistent and growing each month!

Grow Youtube + Instagram Following to 10k

This is scary. Like really scary. I’m going to tell you right now that I’m nervous about this goal. This is a huge step for me and I have to work really, really hard to make this one a reality. Now, before sharing my current following count on these platforms, I want to tell you that it isn’t solely about the numbers. What I really want is to grow my following and continue to keep active followers, so if I don’t reach this number but I do grow with a true following, that’s all that really matters to me. So here is the current follower count: Instagram: 3,407 and Youtube: 5,582. So obviously I have quite a ways to go. But my goal is to create good, relatable and valuable content for you and for other readers! What do you think? Can we do it?!

Generate 10 Purposeful Collaborations

In 2017, I had the opportunity to work with some really amazing brands (see more here). In 2018, I really want to expand that reach and work with even more brands on some really great collaborations. Often times, I don’t think I put myself out there enough and I’m afraid to ask for what I want. Now, I’m, not necessarily talking about paid collaborations, although that would be incredible. But, I would really love to have the opportunity to collaborate with 10 brands this year to bring some exciting new content to Timeless Taste! What types of collaborations would you like to see here?

If you have made it this far into the post, thank you so much! I’m not sure if its the sickness or just the excitement for the new year that has me writing so much, but I sure do hope it continues. My 2018 goals stretch beyond this post and there are many factors, and smaller steps, that go along with each goal. Consistency and Action are definitely required if I want to make these dreams a reality in 2018. I would love, more than anything, for you to share your 2018 goals with me in a comment or tag me on social media!

Also, I am planning out my content for this month, and for the new year, and would love to have the opportunity to share everything that you want to see. If there is a specific post that you would like to see or more of any areas on the blog that you would like for me to focus on, please share!

Happy 2018 friend and thank you for your support!!

Thank you for sharing your 2018 goals and resolutions! It’s funny because this is the first year that I am doing a “word of the year” and “action” is my word for this year too! I want it to impact everything from my relationship to career to health and everything in-between. Cheers to action dominating 2018!

Thank you so much, Whitney! I completely agree! I am really hoping that “Action” will affect all areas of my life. I procrastinate so much and spend my time dreaming, that I never take action. Cheers to making it happen this year!

Hi Morgan, I really enjoyed reading your blog this morning. I totally understand what you mean by feeling a little behind. I have to work on my PowerSheets, too….and this is my first year using them. I’m loving Lara Casey and her team…they’ve been so helpful. I hope you are feeling much better now. ((hugs)). Thanks so much for sharing your goals and your thoughts behind them, this is very inspiring for me to start getting real about my goals too. You write with honesty, vulnerability, and you are so relatable…..it feels good to know that I’m not the only one who feels these same feelings about goals, making a home, weight, and other things you mentioned. When I have my goals written up, I will share them with you. Right now, they are in the brainstorming phase:
    Cook dinner 4 x weekly
Cultivate my friendships (by paying attention, little cards, little gifts, meeting for coffee more often etc) bc it’s so easy to get caught up in every day living, and friends seems to go to the wayside.
I have many more, but they are not yet formulated. Thank you for inspiring me to get busy on my PS goals. I think once my husband and son go back to school on Monday, I will be able to focus more clearly. I’ll make some coffee, play some nice jazz, and start dreaming and planning. I think your goals for 2018 are amazing and perfect because it’s going t get you out of your comfort zone and do like you said, “Take Action!” I love you word, by the way! I have to come up with one too. I’ll be here to support you. I love your posts and would love to see more of what you already do, plus maybe some cooking (if you like to cook), beauty and of course, more about how you go about making your house a loving home! XO Happy Blessed New Year Morgan! I think it’s going to be a Very Happy one!!! Joanie 🙂

Joanie, thank you so much! It’s also my first time using Powersheets and I’m excited, but a little nervous too. I will definitely need some motivation. I hope we can chat about them together throughout the year! Your goals sound so wonderful. I would also like to cultivate my friendships. It’s so easy to get busy and let time slip. It feels good to reach out to others and help them along the way, just as we need that encouragement ourselves. I hope your week is off to a wonderful start and I know that 2018 will be full of blessings for you!

I love the idea of striving for three date nights per month. We get so busy these days that I think my husband and I could really benefit from this kind of goal-setting to make sure we make time for each other!

Thank you, Charlotte! We just had our first date night on Saturday and I have to say it was amazing. I told my husband that we needed to leave our cell phones in the car just so we (really me) wouldn’t be tempted to mindlessly scroll. Although we aren’t glued to our phones it was like we had a huge weight lifted by them just being in the car. So amazing! If you try it out, I would love to know your thoughts. Happy 2018 and Monday, too!
