2016 Goals: Personal & Professional | http://timelesstasteblog.com |@TimlessTasteBlog | #TimelessTasteBlog

Happy Monday Ladies [and Gents]!

It is the first Monday of the new year and I am determined to start this year off on the right foot. Obviously, who isn’t! However, before I jump right into new content, which will appear later on in the week, IU wanted to take a minute to share some personal and professional goal for 2016! I have really enjoyed reading my favorite bloggers goals for the new year, tips for reaching your goals, and just all around wonderful ideas to push yourself to become a more productive and appreciative person. The wonderful, and sometimes challenging, things about life is that we are constantly growing and changing. Creating new opportunities, obstacles, good times and bad times. I am not one to handle stress well, which is something I want to work on this year, but over the past few months I have truly realized that ever struggle is an opportunity to grow stronger as a person and in my faith. Every crisis, or what matt seem to be a set back, is a chance to be bold in my faith and see God do his wonderful work. Whether it is what I want to see, or what I need to see, he never fails, and I am striving to become stronger in this new year. While I would love to lose weight in the new year, [don’t we all want to be a little healthier?], I would mainly like to find balance in all aspects of my life-food, exercise, stress, work, fun, shopping, haha. Therefore, I have created goals this year instead of resolutions. Goals that I would like to create an action plan on how I can work hard to achieve. Goals that are realistic, reachable, yet still challenging. And goals that will make me kinder, smarter, and better as a person and are create for my self fulfillment, not to please or impress someone else. With that introduction, I think I should go ahead and share those goals!

Personal Goals

Stress Less

I am crazy when it comes to stress. Whether it is school work or a test, blogging, be a perfectionist, it seems as if I am always stressing over something. I feel like I hold my self to ridiculous limits, and often stress myself out more than necessary. Jy is constantly saying to me “It’s OK Morgan. Everything is fine, just calm down. I promise it’s no big deal.” or “Morgan, stop saying sorry. Why do you keep saying sorry? You’re fine.” Over the years I have placed my self in this tiny box, and feel like no matter what I do it’s never good enough and the fact is… I am good enough. This year, I want to realize that while many things are very important, nothing is so important that I need to constantly make my self stress over. Things will get done, and will be fine.

Find Balance-be more active and eat cleaner

I am always striving to eat healthier and be more active. In high school, I was extremely active! I played field hockey from middle school through my senior year. Once I graduated, my activity level plummeted and it is quite obvious! I want to find workout regimen that I enjoy and will continue to pursue. I do not like running at all, but I enjoy swimming and biking and other forms of activity. I just need to carve out the time to do them and my goal is to stop making excuses. I have no problem finding 3 hours to binge watch Grey’s Anatomy, so why can I exercise for 30 minutes?! Exactly! I also want to incorporate healthier meals into each day, which is definitely a struggle for me also. So, if you have an recipe recommendations I would appreciate if you threw them my way!!

With our home building process, and me about to graduate college [yay #finally], I want to create home that is clean and simple. I find that the less clutter there is, the less stress there is. In all aspects of my life, whether it is cooking, decorating, beauty regimen, my closet, anything I want to strive for simplicity. There is no need for multiple duplicates of things and hoarding broken things, or just things that people have bought for me that I feel guilty of getting rid of. Simplicity.

Educate Myself More

I know this sounds a little crazy, I mean I am a college student. But, I find that I enjoy educating myself with things that I actually like, and find fun, unlike intermediate econometrics. You may, or may not, know that I am a Public Policy major and a Business Management minor and to be quite honest with you, I don’t necessarily enjoy all  of my classes. But, I do enjoy reading good books and doing research on fun things that I know little about like software and photography. So this year, I want to explore my student side outside of college and actually study a few fun things!

Unplug Often

There is no way possible that I am the only one guilty of spending too much time on Instagram and Twitter! It’s so addicting and I miss out on so much sometimes, because I am glued to my phone! This year I want to make it a point to unplug form social media and even technology often and read a good book, talk to Jay, or give Worm even more puppy kisses!

Don’t Compare Myself to Others

This is a big one for me. I’m not saying that I strive to be like other people, because that is not the case. However, I enjoy reading other blogs and seeing others styles and finding piece of their wardrobe that I like. But, sometimes it’s easy to compare myself to other people and wonder why I might not have the same success that they do? Not everyone is the same and often the things people post on Facebook are not really depiction’s of their everyday life. They might post pictures of this and that, with crazy captions, but in reality they don’t truly enjoy their life quite as much as you might think. And sometimes it’s obvious that they don’t enjoy their life, when they clearly feel the need to over do it on Facebook. So I want to realize that I can’t compare myself to other people. It’s wonderful to have role models and inspiration. But when it comes down to it, pictures are just pictures, and you can’t see everything that is not captured! So I want to be myself and only myself and careless what other people think or do!

Plan and Follow Through

I am terrible with planning. I am not good with committing to things and often miss out because I never said “Oh yeah, I will definitely be there!‘ or never booked that vacation I wanted to go on and then Spring rolls around and I’m sitting on the couch at home. This year I want to commit to making things happen!

Devote More Time to Creating Good Quality Blog Content

I pride myself in my website and often don’t share it with people as much as I want to, because I don’t feel like every post is well thought out. I want Timeless Taste to be a professional site, where people come to find resources and information, and trust that I am proving the best content possible, while still being my true self! However, sometimes I want to just sit down and write and unscheduled post about how I have a cold and have been stuck in the bed watching Netflix. I need to find that balance! So I would like to bring more schedule, professional, quality content, while still remaining myself in this new year!

Push My Creative Side

Creativity has never been my thing. I am just going to be honest. I can’t draw, my hand writing isn’t pretty, I can’t sing [except maybe after a few glasses of wine, I love Patty Loveless-haha], now you’re probably wondering “And you write a blog with How-To’s, DIY’s, Recipes and Outfit Inspiration?” Don’t worry I do have a few talents and I don’t share anything that I would not support, eat, or use as decor myself! I just would love to learn how to photograph better pictures and work with Adobe Illustrator, come up with fun post ideas and trust myself to mix a few more patterns into my wardrobe-maybe, I like my neutrals. This year, I want to push my creative side to see what I can learn and give myself time and patients to try new things.

Respond Efficiently

This is a huge weakness for me. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am terrible at returning phone calls, text messages, or emails. I am sorry, please don’t take it personally-lol. This year, I want to respond more efficiently and stay on top of things better!

Professional & Blogging Goals

Do More Research

In the new year I would like to conduct a little more research on not only my site, but study more about blogging. I love blogging, connecting, and interacting with my readers and so many different people from around the world! I would like to hear more from readers about what they want to see and maybe even conduct my first survey! Pinterest is one of my favorite platforms and can be so beneficial for bloggers as far as finding great sources to learn from and for promoting your blog. I have been collecting a good pile of sources to use throughout the new year, you can follow me here!

Plan & Preschedule Posts More Frequently

Currently I am finishing this post on Monday morning, which already puts it behind schedule! I would like to plan out my posts better and preschedule them so that they up at the same time each day! However, I also like to remain real and point when I’m finished writing and editing, keeps this as real as it gets! So I would just like to find a good balance and continue to be interactive!

Do Not Compare Myself to Other Bloggers

Looking to other bloggers for inspiration and even reading their blogs because I enjoy it, is ok. I’m not saying that I am trying to be a “copycat” at all. Sometimes though, when you are reading some else blog, it’s easy to see all of their beautiful things, pictures, and the wonderful opportunities they have to work with different amazing brands. It’s easy to start wondering what I am doing wrong? But, I have to remember that I am writing my own story. I am traveling my own path to success. Mine may look much different than others. It ay be faster, slower, greater, or worse. But, it is mine and in the end, it will be the best path for me, because God would not provide me with any less! I just have to take each opportunity and use it to my best advantage! & so can you!

Work With More Brands, Across a Variety of Industries

This year I would like to push to have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of brands! I love blogging and sharing my favorite products. I would love to be able to bring Worm into the picture more and share some of my favorite dog things, food, treats and more! You also know that cooking is a huge part of who I am and I can’t wait to bring more recipes to Timeless Taste.

Bring New Things to Timeless Taste

As with brands, I want to bring new things to Timeless Taste. I am currently beginning to work on a new Youtube channel to bring videos to this site. I would also like to provide you with free printables, helpful lists, and so many other things! My goal is to make Timeless Taste a fun, friendly, girl-talk environment, including lot’s of learning materials to help us out along this ride!

I just want to thank you all for your support this past year and welcome my new readers! I am so excited for this new year and happy to bring fresh content to this site. I would love to know any thoughts, or request you have and can’t wait grow in 2016!
