Lifestyle

2018 was such an interesting year for Jay and me, and for the Timeless Taste brand. I feel like when I look at 2018 as a whole, there are so many things that I am proud of us for. Choices we made, things we did, moments we experienced and the emotions of it all, just send me over the top. 2018 was a difficult year for me, personally and professionally. I personally feel like I learned quite a few big lessons, over the past few years, and I think learning to trust and feel, but not be overly dependent is a huge part of that.

In today’s post, I wanted to share with you 14 Things I am proud we did in 2018. I think I opened my mind and heart more in 2018 than I have in years or maybe even my whole life. I tried to take on and understand different perspectives. Balancing traditions we always cling to with new ways of thinking and living. Learning that you don’t have to be just one thing and that what you do professionally, is not what defines you as a person. For some of you, these things are a natural way of life, but for me, these are simply new ways that I am proud that I took on in 2018.

Traveled More

We traveled to Miami, The Bahamas, New York City, Atlanta, Ashville, and Charleston together. Did I miss anything?

Started Recycling

Of course, a few months in, our local trash/recycle service notified us that they will no longer be accepting recycled items. Really?!

Aimed to Eat More Organic, Whole Foods

We eating primarily organic meats, vegetables, fruits and more when we are at home.

Started using “Clean” Beauty Products

This happened on the tail end of 2018. However, I’m so excited to have found some really amazing clean beauty products.

In 2018, I read 17 books. I think that is more than I read in my first 22 years of life combined.

Worked on Work-Life Balance

Jay is such a hard worker and I’m proud of him for setting some new boundaries last year.

Took on Things We Were Scared of/Thought We Couldn’t Handle

Business wise, relationship wise, etc. We learned how to push our limits and rest in uncertainty.

Relied on Each Other

More than ever… I can’t show enough gratitude to Jay for the support he has shown me this year. It has been a tough one for me emotionally and mentally.

Planned for Our Future

We have had conversations about children, finances and the lifestyle we want to live in the future.

Bought Our First Investment/Commercial Property

Speaking of which, we purchased our first piece of investment property that happens to be commercial real estate. What a blessing!

Began Learning to Trust Gods Timing

This one was extremely hard for me and I’m still working on this. However, I have learned some much this year about his promises and although it might seem like his timing is difficult, it’s more perfect than we could ever imagine.

Worked on Our Marriage

I don’t think marriage is something that just happens and remains perfect. As seasons of your life change and years go by, I think it’s important to continue working on your marriage and putting time into your spouse. This year we did a lot fo that!

Let Go of a Few Bad Habits

For me personally, I stopped looking at Facebook so much and started understanding the dangers of what I consume visually, online, on a daily basis.

Put A Little More Distance to People in our Lives

Our family and friends mean a huge deal to me. My relationship with family is one of the most important parts of my life. However, one of the hardest things I have had to learn as an adult is accepting when too much is too much

Jay and I made the reactive decision to put a little distance between ourselves and some people in our lives, to spend more time on our individual sanity and the health of our marriage.

What were some of the decisions you made in 2018 that you are proud of? I’m so excited for a new year and the opportunity to start fresh and continue working on myself and the relationships in my life. I am excited to hear what you are proud of from 2018 and hope to learn from you!
